Reading Glasses After Laser Eye Surgery

Reading glasses, almost everyone over 40 yrs will find at some stage a difficulty with their reading and close vision.

This is due to presbyopia , which occurs because of a hardening of the lens inside the eye and a weakening of the muscles which alters its shape ,this makes focussing on close objects more difficult.

Presbyopia can in some cases be corrected with CK surgery , but a less drastic way is simply to obtain a pair of glasses.

Before purchasing any glasses or eyewear it is recommended that you have an eye examination to determine your eye prescription. If you need them just for reading / close vision and you have the exact same correction in each eye with no astigmatism then to save money you can simply purchase a pair of ready made glasses of the appropriate strength.

If however your eyes have astigmatism or there is a different prescription/ strength required for each eye then you should really purchase glasses made to your exact prescription from an optician

Many patients who have had laser eye surgery before the age of 40yrs will find as they age that, unless they resort to further surgical procedures it will be necessary again to wear glasses to correct their near vision.

Reading eyeglasses are generally most carefully purchased by people such that they compliment the features as well as correct the vision. These are also selected in a manner such that they accentuate one’s outfit while also ensuring a crystal clear vision. Most reading eyeglasses come with a storage case as well as a soft cleaning case which are available at no additional charge. There are two main styles in which the reading glasses are available. These are full frames in which the entire lens is made in the reading prescription and half-eyes that sit lower down on the nose. Full reading eyeglasses are suitable for people who spend a great deal of time concentrating on material close-up.
