Pediatric Eye Problems
Pediatric eye problems have been commonly found to occur in children. The common eye problems that are seen to occur in children include conjunctivitis, stye, chalazion, corneal abrasion, etc.
Conjunctivitis may happen either in one eye or both the eyes. The common symptoms that are characteristic of Conjunctivitis include redness in the eyes, watery discharge and itching in the eyes. The condition can be generally managed by the administration of antibiotic eye drops in children. Stye and Chalazion are other common eye conditions that are found to occur in children. Stye may refer to a swollen area on the child’s eyelid and is generally tender in nature. Chalazion may be caused due to the inflammation of the meibomian gland and can be managed by used warm compresses for several weeks or months.Corneal abrasion, Blepharitis, Dacryostenosis, presence of foreign body in the eye, Subconjunctival hemorrhages, Perorbital cellulitis, etc. are other common conditions that have been seen pediatrics.
