Ophthalmic Artery Aneurysm

Ophthalmic Artery Aneurysm is a common condition wherein the most important factors are its size, location and character of the aneurysm.

One of the alternatives to treat these aneurysms is using the technique of endovascular embolization. The recent introduction of the Gugliemi Detachable Coil (GDC) has further advanced the treatment of this condition. The technique that can be used for the diagnosis of this aneurysm is cerebral angiography. At times, these aneurysms can be difficult to treat surgically; therefore, one can use GDC embolization to treat this aneurysm. This process has been found to be promising even in the aneurysms which are showing occlusion to the extent of 90 per cent. These aneurysms may be found to exist in patients even without the signs of thrombosis or spasm.
