Macular Hole Recovery

Macular Hole Recovery There are some of the vitamins, enzymes, fish oil, etc. that may be helpful in the recovery of macular hole and thus they contribute towards preserving the vision of the eye.Microcurrent stimulation can also be beneficial in this respect.

There is a jelly like substance that is present in the eye which is known as the vitreous. Vitreous starts pulling away and it starts shrinking from the retina of the eye with increasing age. In most of the circumstances, this pulling of vitreous takes place without any negative effects on the eyes. Thus, there may be floaters that may start appearing; however there is no associated loss of vision. As this pulling away and shrinking away of the vitreous continues, it can eventually lead to the creation of a hole and this hole is termed as the macular hole. This type of hole generally occurs in the central part of the retina of the eye. After the formation of the hole, the fluid which had already replaced vitreous in most of the places will start entering into the hole. This will ultimately lead to the localized separation of the retina of the eye. The conventional treatment that is generally used to gain recovery is that of Vitrectomy. This process is generally used to treat holes that can go all the way in the macula of the eye. It is important that after the surgical process, the patients must keep their faces in a downward direction. The complementary treatment can be given with vitamins, herbs and other nutritional supplements.
