Lasik Surgery and Reading Glasses

Lasik Surgery and Reading Glasses

Lasik Surgery may appear to be the best solution for people who are suffering from Presbyopia and may also eliminate the need for reading glasses.

However, this surgery is not meant for everyone. Earlier, it was considered that wearing reading glasses is the only solution for taking care of Presbyopia until Lasik technology was invented. However, Lasik which stands for Laser-Assisted In-Situ-Keratomileusis is a surgical procedure that makes permanent changes in the cornea’s shape. The purpose of the procedure is to correct, once and for all, blurred vision without the use of reading glasses. But the limitation is that this procedure is not meant for everyone. According to the FDA, some of the known risks of LASIK include the development of severe dry eye syndrome, the occurrence of visual anomalies such as haloes, glares, and double vision, and even the complete loss of vision. There is also inadequate information about the long-term effects of LASIK surgery.
