Lasic

Lasik is often mispelt as Lasic,a crime of which I am often myself guilty! (too many years looking into eyes and not the keys on the keyboard).

Lasik is the abbreviation for the words 'Laser in situ Keratomileusis' surgery, and is the most popular form of laser eye surgery to correct vision.

A small flap/layer of corneal tissue on the front of the eye is cut and moved to one side. A laser is the used to alter the shape of the cornea to smooth out the corneal surface such that a patients vision is corrected.

The procedure is normally painless (due to the application of local anaesthetic eye drops) and recovery relatively quick.

Upon complete healing of the eye, the other eye can normally be operated on soon after.
