Glasses..will you still need them?

Glasses, also known as spectacles or eyeglasses. They are still the most popular form of vision correction in the 21st century.

Spectacle wear has been around for hundreds of years, but the advent of contact lenses and more recently laser eye surgery has made their use less popular.

Many people think that by having laser eye surgery they will never have to wear spectacles or contact lenses ever again. This is not the case.

Laser eye surgery will correct your vision at the time of surgery but will do nothing to prevent your eyes and vision changing in the future. So in the vast majority of cases, either spectacles or contact lenses wil have to be worn again. This is especially true in the case of people in their forties who need eyeglasses to help with reading and close vision.

It looks that spectacle wear is with us to stay ..unless new techniques of vision correction appear, maybe with the use of stem sells or genetic engineering or through advances in bio medicical engineering.
