Will you still need glasses after laser surgery ?
You may still need to wear glasses after Laser Surgery
Often people think that if they have eye surgery their eyesight will be perfect and they will no longer need spectacles or contact lenses. Most people are more than satisfied with their vision after they have had surgery ,but ocassionally there may still be a slight blurring of vision which needs either a further enhancement operation or the wearing of spectacles or contact lenses Some patients who have had laser /refractive eye surgery find problems with glare and hence find the need to wear
sunglasses
more frequently .
Conventional laser eye surgery cannot itself correct
presbyopia
(long sight caused with natural ageing ) a condition which means you have difficulty with close up work, reading etc as you grow older.
Consequently
reading glasses
must be worn or another option is to have a form of non laser refractive eye surgery called
CK
which can result in continued clear vision for both distance and reading without the necessity to wear spectacles.
You must remember that eye surgery is not a permanent cure, and your eyes can and will still change as you age.But patients will usually find that laser refractive eye surgery will give them a substantial number of years without the need to wear any form of eye correction Please always remember to ask your own personal eye surgeon for particular advice.
