Eye Floaters

Those eye floaters that you notice in your vision are most commonly caused by remnants of your embryonic eye.

They float in front of the retina at the back of the eye,in the vitreous humor which is a jelly type substance behind the lens of the human eye.

What you are actually seeing is the shadow cast on the retina(light sensitive tissue) by these left over bits of your foetal eye.

They can appear as simple black spots or squiggly lines which drift across your vision. If looking at a clear sky or a plain colour background their appearence is more noticeable.

In the vast majority of cases floaters are nothing to worry about. However as with all eye problems, it is recommended that you consult an eye care practitioner for further investigation and advice, more so if you suddenly notice more or larger floaters.

As with any eye problem on this website if you require some further information, simply drop us a line using the form below.
