Corneal Neovascularization.

Corneal Neovascularization may be described as a condition where there is an excessive in growth of blood vessels. This in growth is generally from the limbal vascular plexus which runs into the cornea.

The condition is generally caused by the low reception of oxygen as sufficient amount of oxygen cannot be received from the bloodstream. The most common cause which is responsible for causing this condition is contact lens wear. The extended use of the contact wear can also lead to this condition. This condition can deeply impact the eyesight of an individual and this generally happens in elevated stages. This can be one of the primary reasons because of which the eye care physicians recommend routine examination of the eyes. The topical instillation of the drugs such as triamcinolone and doxycycline can be useful in the treatment of this condition. This condition is also seen in some of the patients who have been wearing soft contact lenses for a long term. The condition may be managed by implementing the different strategies in order to increase the level of the oxygen to the corneas. Thus, then condition can be successfully managed by preventing the extended wear of the contact lenses. In some cases, the condition has also found to be associated with corneal swelling.
