Chloramphenicol Ophthalmic
Chloramphenicol Ophthalmic is an antibiotic and its ophthalmic form is useful in treating bacterial infections of the eyes.
It is important to immediately notify the physician in case the symptoms of the eye infection are worsened by using chloramphenicol. In case an individual is suffering from a viral or fungal infection in the eye, then the administration of chloramphenicol should be avoided. It should be however used only to take care and manage the infections of the eye. This ophthalmic preparation is also not safe to be used in pregnancy and breast feeding states. Rarely some of the side effects of this medication have been reported which are related to blood disorders. More common side effects that have been seen with the drug include burning sensation, stinging and irritation in the eyes, etc.
