Bells Palsy

Custom Search

Bells Palsy is a paralysis which normally affects one side of the face, due to a paralysis of the facial nerve.Often it develops in a few hours or a couple of days.

Many people think when it first occurs that they may have had a stroke.

These are the most common symptoms of the condition:

- a droopy mouth

- lost taste sensation

- drooling of saliva

- incomplete closure of eyelids.

There are numerous possible causes of this condition which can only be determined by a complete medical examination. Most patients will find that thankfully the condition will resolve fully within 2-3 months.

Because of the incomplete closure of the eyelid on the affected side there is danger of developing a very dry eye. This requires eye lubrication treatment with artifical tear fluid and tear gels.

Other treatment procedures for the other symptoms which can occur depend on the initial cause of the condition.

If you require further information on this or any other condition please contact us via the form below.
